5_Podgorica Museum District

On April 24th 2024 the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property of Montenegro announced that group lead by the Milan/ London-based practice a-fact and composed by LAND, Maffeis Engineering and Charcoalblue has won the International Competition for “conceptual architectural design of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Natural History Museum and Park of Arts & Culture with associated cultural facilities” in Podgorica (Montenegro).

The winning proposal “creates an iconic architecture that connects culture and nature by rejoining the Morača river with the city. The new museum district and the park of arts & culture will spark Podgorica’s social life, becoming a vibrant and dynamic public attractor.

The buildings promote a new paradigm of sustainability by encouraging the interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces and by exploring the contemporary use of local materials and construction techniques.” according to the architects Andrea Rossi, Giovanni Sanna and Pierluigi Turco, co-founders of a-fact.

4_SOUx Milano

On March 14th 2024 a-fact had the pleasure of teaching “A world of modules” at SOUx Milano, a cutting-edge architecture and design school for kids aged 6 to 9 years old with diverse backgrounds.

The kids had the opportunity to experiment with us the importance of proportions, working hands-on their personal vision of cities, buildings, apartments and rooms, giving it a unique creative touch, pure and free from day-to-day constraints.

Special thanks to SOUx wonderful staff and, in particular, to Caterina Malinconico for inviting us. It’s been such a wonderful and powerful experience to get inspired by kid’s creativity and we can’t wait to come back!

3_The Plan Real Estate Award 2023

We’re thrilled to announce that on January 31st, our mixed-use project Podium was awarded with an honorable mention in the category “Innovation and Design” at the THE PLAN Real Estate Award 2023.

Selected by an outstanding jury, the winning projects were unveiled during the award ceremony at the Fonderia Napoleonica Eugenia, in front of a high-standing audience of over 200 real estate operators, investors and designers.

2_Terra.Materia

On July 6th 2023 we participated in the 3rd edition of Terra.Materia, organized by Ceramica Mediterranea and hosted within the breathtaking scenario of the Montevecchio mines in Sardinia.

Terra.Materia reflects on Mediterranean history and heritage, exploring innovative and resilient futures where architecture blends with this incredible environment and its long-lasting sustainable balance.

In the September 2023 issue of ioArch, we’ve shared some thoughts with Professor Aldo Norsa and with our friends from Adat, Atomaa, Velvet Studio and SOA Architecture about the motivation that pushed us to create a-fact and to start shaping our identity as a new-born architecture practice.

We shared our culture to explore the realm of “factual sustainability”, our responsibility as architects to imagine and shape flexible spaces able to house a thriving future, and the importance of developing our projects involving our clients, our consultants and the local communities.
