Sustainable Environmental Design Keynote Lecture: Pierluigi Turco and Andrea Rossi

7 January 2025

Following the MArch Jury for the Sustainable Environmental Design (SED) programme, architects Pierluigi Turco and Andrea Rossi delivered the keynote lecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, returning to the institution where their professional journey began.

Co-founders of a-fact architecture Fìfactory, the London- and Milan-based practice grounded in the principles of factual sustainability inspired by Hans Rosling, Turco and Rossi shared their design approach rooted in data, context and interdisciplinary collaboration. The lecture explored how environmental, social and economic factors are integrated into architectural and urban-scale projects through circular and resilient strategies, aiming to create meaningful, long-lasting relationships between the built environment and nature.

Drawing from their academic background at the AA and professional experience in leading international firms, the lecture offered insights into A-fact’s evolving body of work and its commitment to embedding sustainability as a driving force throughout the design process.
