MArch Jury Week 2025 – Keynote Lectures

Tuesday 7 January 2025
18:30 – 20:00
Location: AA Lecture Hall

a-fact architecture factory, based in London and Milan, is a design practice driven by the principles of “factual sustainability” inspired by Hans Rosling. Through circular and resilient strategies, the studio addresses pressing environmental, economic, and social challenges. In this lecture, co-founders Pierluigi and Andrea will explore A-fact’s approach to design, emphasizing the use of contextual data and interdisciplinary collaboration to create projects that harmonize with nature and foster sustainable communities. They will delve into how their work bridges architecture and urban scale, embedding key sustainability factors into the evolution of design choices for impactful, resilient outcomes.

Pierluigi Turco and Andrea Rossi first met at the Architectural Association in 2015 while attending the SED course and have collaborated ever since. Following years of experience at esteemed international firms like SOM and MCA, they established A-fact Architecture Factory in 2022 together with Giovanni Sanna. The practice has already achieved significant milestones, including winning prestigious international competitions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Natural History Museum, and Park of Arts and Culture of Montenegro, as well as the Bertalia-Lazzaretto social housing project in Bologna—Italy’s largest social housing initiative in three decades.

This event will take place in person in the AA Lecture Hall and will also be live-streamed.
