GENERAL AXO

TENNACOLA’s push towards innovation and legacy with its territory translates into an architectural language that aims at creating continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, bonding the new headquarters with its surrounding landscape. The built volumes become part of an organic park that contaminates the whole site and connects its elements along a green promenade. The promenade cuts through the first building – that hosts offices, meeting spaces, auditorium and informal workspaces – and opens towards a pocket park with a high-density vegetation that represents the heart of the whole project and hosts outdoor recreational spaces.

All offices and active working spaces face either the green heart or the park, with a direct positive impact on wellbeing and productivity. The second building – that hosts cantine, storage and garage – acts as a background for the pocket park and creates a buffer with the adjacent industrial facilities. The two buildings are shaped according to functional modularity and are designed to be fully prefabricated according to DfMA principles.

The architecture of the facade passively responds to site orientation and solar geometry, creating vertical tridimensional modules on both east and west facades with an opaque portion that protects from direct solar radiation and a transparent one that allows diffuse daylight in all indoor spaces. The large flat roofs are covered with extensive PVs for electricity generation, interrupted modularly to allow zenith light to penetrate into all double-height spaces and encourage natural ventilation due to stack effect.
Tennacola headquarters aims at blurring the traditional separation between office and production spaces, generating an architecturally recognizable and site-connected complex where workers and visitors feel part of a single corporate mission towards wellbeing and sustainability.
